Excel Macro Project: Engineering

What Was the Task About?

The task was to handle repetitive processing of measurement data from engineering tests. Each test run had different parameters, but the dataset structure remained the same. The challenge: the measurements were extremely long, even though only a small part was relevant. This made the files too large for smooth processing. The goal was to compress the data efficiently, keeping only what mattered — so the CPU could handle it better.

My Work on This Project

I implemented a moving average method to compress the data, and wrapped the entire process into a 1-click VBA macro. Users simply paste their raw data into a prepared Excel sheet, click the button, and the macro creates a new compressed dataset in another sheet. Both the original and compressed curves are displayed together in one diagram, so the user can visually compare and adjust the compression level in real time until it fits perfectly.

Pricing

This was a standard-sized macro project, and the cost was 200 €. Usually, that’s all it takes — one clean, tailored solution that just works.
